Why don't we publish the tension of our strings?
Because this information might confuse rather than inform our customers. In order for a customer to easily compare the properties of individual products, the properties should be given in line with a uniform standard. Unfortunately this is not the case in the area of musical instrument and string production. Each producer chooses their own respective methods of measuring tension. For example, when one puts a string on the violin with a vibrating length of 325 mm and then tunes it to 440 Hz, one gets a completely different value than when one puts the same string on an instrument with a vibrating length of 330 mm tuned to 443 Hz. Moreover, if any technical data is to make sense to a customer, the results need to also contain the permitted tolerance (e.g. +/- 3%).
Again, we want to inform our customers, not confuse them. This is the reason we publish only general information about the tension of our strings.
